I was six years old when Nadia won her Olympic medals and was inspired! I wanted to be just like her as did most little girls who watched her flawlessly perform over and over again. My friends and I enrolled in the closest gym and began long careers as gymnasts in a quest to be the "next Nadia". She was and will always be the poster girl for perfection, but this movie of her life does her NO JUSTICE! The actresses chosen to portray her were terrible choices, the younger Nadia was ok, but the older Nadia was really bad. She was very unconvincing and she seemed way too whiney. Having been in gymnastics circles for years, I imagine that her teenage years and her weight problems were difficult for her, but she is strong and she didn't come across that way in the movie. Romanians know more hardships than we do as Americans and I don't think she was as much of a basket case as they made her seem. The gymnastics squences were good (notice that American gymnast Marcia Frederick was the performer), but overall I expected so much more than what this movie offers. It's worth watching once if you don't know much about Nadia, but not worth buying!
